I do owe a pair of skinny jeans and will wear them on occasion, but I much prefer a bootcut or flare/wide leg jean. The flare leg is more difficult to find because everyone seems to think the skinny is "where it's at". A flare leg jean will give the illusion of a smaller waist and thighs.
After having walked around the mall, I came to realize that people wear what's "in fashion" even though it doesn't make the most of their shape. The skinny jean is not a cut for every body type...it is not flattering for all figures and it is very unforgiving. The low rise jean is kinder to the stomach as it does not cut your middle in half or squeeze the stomach, but it should rest comfortably on the hipline (not tight)...your stomach should not hang over and cover the front snap/button...this is so unflattering. Your mid section should not look like a muffin...try a different cut of jean or a larger waist size.
