Some people wash their jeans every six months?

If you have found your PERFECT pair of jeans and want to keep them for as long as possible, take care of them. The washing machine is the number one enemy in your war against fading and wearing of a pair of jeans, The dryer wreaks havoc on a jeans shape and fit. If your jeans are losing their shape, it most likely is the heat from the dryer (which weakens and damages the integrity of the fabric fibers). If you insist on washing them in a machine, turn them inside out, place in a mesh laundering bag or tied pillowcase and use cold water on a delicate cycle, Don’t use harsh detergents (use Woolite or a baby detergent). Some people (denim connoisseurs) bathe their jeans only every few months. If you want to maintain the color of your jeans, try washing them with about 1/4 cup of vinegar, this will help “set” the dye. Soaking a new, dark blue pair with your older faded pair can also help darken the older pair (soak in a bucket of cold water for a few days). NEVER use bleach on denim fabric since this will weaken and thin the fabric almost instantly. For a quick pick-me-up between baths, moisten a couple of dryer sheets and throw them into the dryer with your jeans, but on air setting/no heat setting. The dampened dryer sheets will help tighten the fabric without abrading it and your jeans will feel and look “refreshed”. Never dry your jeans with heat for more than 15 minutes; take them out of the dryer and hang or fold flat and allow to dry. If your jeans are too tight (thanks to B&J ice-cream), put them on while they are damp and they will stretch out quickly. The issue will be wiggling yourself into them  (perhaps it would be fun to have someone help you???).
