High Waist Womens Jeans

High-Waisted Jeans Are Back

http://gracemagazine.wordpress.com

I’m not sure I’m ready to go out and buy a new jeans wardrobe. But I have to admit, high-waisted jeans make legs look longer and tummies flatter. And aren’t you tired of seeing muffin tops on people who shouldn’t be wearing tight jeans? Low-rise jeans are great for cutting butts in half and making them look smaller. But they do nothing for the waist and legs.
Here are some examples of high-waisted denim on the market now.

ONE RESPONSE TO HIGH-WAISTED JEANS ARE BACK

  1. I love the look of these jeans. I just turned 40 and have been reading all sorts of negative stuff about high-waisted “mom jeans”.
PEOPLE – as this article states, fashions repeat themselves. In the 1980s everyone made fun of the “bell bottoms” of the 1970s. Nobody would be caught dead in bell bottoms as the new look was a tapered leg.
When the boot cut and flare first made their appearance in the 1990s. . . they were a 1970s knock-off that looked like something MY mother would have worn – except the new style incorporated a low rise that revealed belly buttons, butt cracks, underwear, and muffin tops.
Now the high waist is coming back and I am so thankful! My body shape has never looked good in low rise jeans and I am looking forward to this new trend which seems to allow for different widths in the leg.
I know a lot of fashionistas will disagree with me, but I think the natural waistline is the natural spot on a woman’s body for pants to sit. It’s more comfortable it looks more sophisticated. Low rise in jeans are like a drop waist in a dress – they only look good if you have a very flat tummy. As for leg width – I think people should pick the one they like be it boot cut, flared, tapered or straight.
Fashions come and go. What does or does not look flattering is a matter of “the opinion of the day” and if you are laughing at someone’s outdated jeans, just remember they were once gracing the pages of top fashion magazines. Your current style was probably laughed at in another generation and will be laughed at again in a decade or two. Maybe we should all just stop laughing and look at the old styles as simply “vintage”. . . something to be admired, respected and remembered.
Pick the styles that look good on you and don’t worry if they are current or vintage.
